MIAMI, Florida—Anthony G. Sclar, DMD, author of the textbook Soft Tissue and Esthetic Considerations in Implant Therapy (Quintessence 2003), will lead his 14th annual comprehensive surgery course for novice and experienced dental implant surgeons Feb. 3-7, 2012, at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa.

A flexible three-, four- or five-day program will allow participants to customize learning based on their previous learning, experience, and needs. The comprehensive five-day (29 CE hours) program includes extensive video surgery, formal question and answer periods, and detailed course workbooks. A series of optional, limited-attendance, hands-on workshops will follow the general sessions on Days 1-4.

Day 1 covers practical approaches for those who want to expand and develop a dental implant surgery practice. Emphasis will be placed on patient evaluation, diagnostic measures, risk assessment, treatment planning and case selection, implant occlusion and biomechanics, and instrumentation and implant surgery techniques for management of hard and soft tissues during implant surgery.

Day 2 is designed for doctors who desire to learn contemporary oral soft-tissue grafting and periodontal plastic surgery around dental implants and natural dentition.

Day 3 is designed for those who need to develop their skills for intraoral bone grafting and hard tissue implant site development.

Day 4 delves into achieving predictable esthetic outcomes.

Day 5 is designed to teach doctors how to identify and avoid potential complications before they occur and how to successfully manage a broad range of complications.

In addition to the optional soft tissue-periodontal plastic and intraoral bone grafting surgical workshops led by Dr. Anthony Sclar; Dr. Brody Hildebrand will provide a workshop on digital dentistry, and Dr. Robert Marx will lead a forum on regenerative technologies.
