Second Annual Internet Marketing Workshop for Dentists scheduled Jan. 20-21 in Bend, Ore.

BEND, Oregon--Big Diastema Internet Marketing for Dentists has announced plans to host a Second Annual Internet Marketing Workshop for Dentists Jan. 20-21 here.

"This workshop is structured to give dentists the hands-on experience of adding and changing content in all the places their ideal patients are visiting: their practice website, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Yelp!," said Jared Young, co-owner of Big Diastema and COO of a dental practice in San Diego, Calif.

"It's imperative that dentists learn to harness the power of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter for two reasons: 1) You can't afford to ignore social media, and 2) You can't be handcuffed to paying someone else to represent you, your practice, and your brand."

The workshop will empower dentists with knowledge on not just WHY it is important to constantly update and add content to a website and social media, but also HOW to accomplish it without taking away from the practice and what it does best: help patients.

"The single best, easiest way to attract more qualified patients is to develop a consistent stream of quality content online," said Young. "Websites have become the equivalent of online business cards: they look nice, but end up rubber banded to a stack of others cards and tucked away somewhere in the back of a drawer."

Young should know. He has helped develop websites and internet marketing plans for other dentists who have seen not just an increase in new patients but an increase in the type of new patients his clients want to see.

Said Young: "A good website does more than just get page views. A good dental website attracts the right kind of patients and gets them to call your office. Anyone can get you 20,000 website 'hits' a month ... that's easy. But you don't need insurance-driven patients who just want to know if you are in network with their provider. You need patients who are motivated to start treatment, regardless of insurance."

3 reasons why you need a web presence NOW

The dental marketing workshop will be limited to 12 attendees, and is a hands-on training on how to maximize the power of the Internet for a practice.

"If there was an option, if people could stay one more day ... everybody in that room would sign up to do it," said Joanne Glaros of William P. Glaros, DDS, in Spring, Texas.

"We learned all of these new techniques and understanding why they are important and so that we can use them ... to be able to go home and click a video. That seemed like such a huge thing ... well, it's really pretty simple."

Conference attendees can plan on two days of workshops and nights of leisure.
