Maggio award

Dr. Frank A. Maggio, a 1971 DDS alumnus of the Loyola University Chicago School of Dentistry and a 1975 periodontics alumnus of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, is scheduled to receive the F. William Towner Organized Dentistry Activity Award at the College’s 2012 Reunion.The award is named for the late Dr. F. William Towner, a 1953 alumnus of the UIC College of Dentistry, and is granted for significant and meritorious activity in organized dentistry. The award reflects Dr. Towner's commitment, to help strengthen the influence of the UIC College of Dentistry.The 2012 UIC College of Dentistry Reunion will be held in a new venue. UIC College of Dentistry and Loyola University Chicago School of Dentistry alumni will gather April 27, 2012, at the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook, Ill. UIC and Loyola dental school alumni are invited. Tickets are $95 before March 4, $115 after that date. A reception will be held at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 8 p.m. Dr. Maggio is active with 17 professional dental organizations and five affiliate professional organizations. He is a former president of the Illinois State Dental Society, the Fox River Valley Dental Society, the McHenry Dental Society, and the Illinois Society of Periodontists, and a former chairman of Dental Lifeline Network. He also served on the American Dental Association Health Foundation, and as the ADA Trustee from the Eighth District.Dr. Maggio has been chair of Legislative Issues for the Midwest Society of Periodontology and chair of Delta Dental of Illinois. As a faculty member, he teaches at UIC and has taught at the Loyola University School of Dentistry and the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry, Buffalo, NY.
