Sunstar website
CHICAGO, Illinois--Sunstar Americas has created a central location that people can visit to receive information on oral health concerns at www.gumbrand.com/.
Sunstar Americas, makers of GUM, Butler, and Guidor oral care products, launched the new website June 30, 2011, with a special focus on providing visitors with easy access to oral care information and solutions. Through an interactive Solutions Finder, people can select from a list of topics and symptoms to find information suited specifically to their oral care needs.
The Solution Finder supports the company's relationship with dental professionals, and is designed to enhance patient compliance of oral care products that have been developed and recommended by dental professionals.
"Our mission is to improve overall systemic health by helping people of all ages have stronger, healthier teeth, and gums," said Dan Descary, managing director. "The new website gives us a leadership role in educating and motivating people to make a lifelong commitment to oral health by putting information and solutions at their fingertips."
Sunstar is involved in a special initiative calling attention to the link between diabetes management and oral care. Sunstar is working with Joslin Diabetes Center to educate people with diabetes and dental care providers on the importance of maintaining a regular dental care routine as part of a comprehensive diabetes care plan.
Included in the relaunch of www.GUMbrand.com will be a section dedicated to providing oral health information for diabetes educators, as well as for individuals living with diabetes. (Joslin is an independent, nonprofit institution, and does not endorse products or services.)

According to the American Diabetes Association, emerging research suggests that the relationship between serious gum disease and diabetes is twofold. Not only are people with diabetes prone to gum disease, but gum disease may potentially affect blood glucose control. This contributes to the progression of diabetic conditions. People who have diabetes and do not take proper care of their teeth and gums may increase their chances of diabetes complications.
Along with site information on the issue, Sunstar will be host for a series of activities throughout the month of July 2011 with special features and giveaways on Facebook and Twitter. Follow for details on Sunstar Twitter and Facebook .
Of special note from 7 to 8 p.m. CDT on July 14, 2011, Sunstar will team with Amy Bellgardt of MomSpark.com to host a special Twitter Party with conversation, games, and prizes focused on family oral care. Beginning July 15, 2011, look for special offers and prizes on Hip2Save.com, where Sunstar will support the "Hip2Help" initiative to help tornado recovery efforts in Joplin, Mo.
