NEWPORT BEACH, California--A two-year clinical study of the bioactive dental cement Ceramir Crown & Bridge has demonstrated effectiveness, durability, and ease-of-use. The ongoing clinical study of Ceramir Crown & Bridge, a new class of cement technology, was conducted to determine its clinical performance for permanent cementation. The two-year follow-up data, which included 17 patients with a total of 38 crowns and fixed partial denture abutments cemented with Ceramir Crown & Bridge, demonstrated retentive properties as there was “no loss of retention."All restorations showed perfect margins after two years and the subjects reported no sensitivity. Clinical observations also noted no secondary caries and no marginal discoloration. Participating clinicians reported that mixing the cement and removal of excess material was “easy.” Lead researcher Prof. Steven R. Jefferies and colleagues concluded that within the confines of the study, the new bioactive cement tested thus far performed well as a luting agent for permanent cementation. The two-year clinical data is further scientific evidence supporting the performance and long-term benefits of this researched Ceramir technology.Detecting cement in the peri-implant sulcusThe study was supported by Doxa Dental AB, Sweden, parent company of Doxa Dental, known for its development of proprietary bioceramic technologies. Following research, development, and clinical studies, Ceramir Crown & Bridge, was successfully launched in Sweden in 2009 and in the United States in June 2011.For more information, go to www.ceramirUS.com.To comment on this subject, go to community.pennwelldentalgroup.com/.References available from company upon request.
