Trick or Treat campaign

Sept. 13, 2010
Proceeds go toward oral health services for at-risk children.
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina--National Children’s Oral Health Foundation: America’s Toothfairy has launched Trick or Treat for America’s Toothfairy. The fundraising campaign is sponsored by the makers of LISTERINE and REACH, Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC and Patterson Dental Supply to benefit underserved children in need of oral health services. Dental professionals and their patients are invited to trick or treat on behalf of NCOHF for Halloween 2010 and raise funds to support nonprofit oral health programs for at-risk children.“We are excited to give dental professionals another way to educate their communities on the importance of oral health while raising funds for a good cause,” said Fern Ingber, NCOHF president and CEO. “This program will not only change the lives of underserved children across the country, but we hope it will encourage everyone to make oral health a priority in their own lives.”Since the unveiling of Trick or Treat for America’s Toothfairy at the RDH Under One Roof event, Patterson Dental has distributed thousands of trick or treat kits to dental offices throughout the country. Dental professionals are encouraged to place a collection box in their waiting rooms, distribute kits to their patients and communities or hold fundraisers. NCOHF supports a national affiliate network of not-for-profit, community-based oral health centers with funding, donated dental products and technical support. Generous corporate partners help ensure that 100% of Trick or Treat for America’s Toothfairy donations are directed to affiliate pediatric oral health services. “We are proud to sponsor this program that will help provide children access to the care and resources they need to build healthy oral care habits from the start,” said Daniel Weiss, vice president, Oral Care, Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC. “This Halloween, we encourage trick or treaters and dental offices everywhere to become a child’s real-life toothfairy by helping raise funds for this important cause.”As part of the event, NCOHF is also sponsoring a contest for dental hygienists. The winning hygienists will be featured in a future issue of RDH® magazine. NCOHF is excited to recognize these dental professionals’ contributions to the oral health care of America’s children.
