Your Facebook page could be hurting you. Here's why.

If you’re like the majority of dentists (88.8%), you have a practice Facebook page. But are you getting the most out of it?

According to our research, only 37.1% of practices are posting on Facebook several times a week. If your office is posting less than this, you are undermining your efforts at online marketing.

For example, suppose a prospect visits your Facebook page and sees that it hasn’t been updated in a month. Unimpressed, that person will continue checking out other practices’ Facebook pages and websites. If your practice doesn’t stand out, guess whose phone won’t be ringing?

Posting relevant content several times a week does take effort, but the payoff is well worth it. You’ll be effectively engaging current and potential patients, which will lead to higher retention rates and more new patient phone calls.

Roger P. Levin, DDS, is chairman and CEO of Levin Group, a leading dental management consulting firm that is dedicated to improving the lives of dentists through a diverse portfolio of lifetime services and solutions.
