U.S. Navy Captain Linda L. Otis performs a dental exam on Staff Sgt. Brian J. Chavez in a 1950's Quonset hut which served as a make-shift dental clinic at Camp Upshur, Marine Corps Base Quantico on March 9, 2008. Naval dentists and dental technicians from 4th Dental Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, examined 254 Reserve Marines and Sailors from the 25th Marine Regiment on March 8-9 to ensure their level of dental health will enable them to mobilize in May and deploy to Iraq in the fall. Otis, a Naval Reserve officer, is a professor of dental medicine at the University of Maryland with more than 22 years of practice. Chavez, a Medford, N.Y. resident, is a Reserve Marine and Scout-Sniper with the battalion's Headquarters and Service Company. He is gearing up for his third deployment to Iraq.
