Foundation releases news briefs for March 2008.

2007 Foundation Grant Award Recipients Make Significant Progress!
Of the many proposals received, four organizations were awarded $25,000 each. Member support and contributions to the Foundation enable
the DTA to help expand access to oral health care and promote oral health
literacy in populations most at risk.

Dr. Robert Genco
Dr. Robert Genco's research at the University of New York at Buffalo, a
two-year study of patients with diabetes mellitus, is to predict periodontal
disease.

American Academy of Pediatrics, Mississippi Chapter
The Mississippi Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics gives tools to doctors to promote children's oral health care from prenatal stages to preschool and beyond.

Lessons in a Lunch Box
Dr. Winifred Booker and the Maryland Children's Oral Health Institute
has launched Lessons in a Lunch Box: Healthy Teeth Essentials & Facts About
Snacks. The series aims to help primary school children learn why good dental hygiene, dental visits, and smart choices in eating habits are important.

Children receiving dental care
Dr. Terry Batliner of the University of Colorado Dental School, in
collaboration with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
Oral Health Initiative and Entravision Communications, is producing Una Boca
Saludable--an oral health-care literacy and outreach public service advertising campaign.

2008 DTAF Grant RFPs Announced!
Accepted proposals will be funded up to $25,000. May 1 is the deadline!

The Dental Trade Alliance Foundation's mission is to fund and leverage promising initiatives that will make the practice of dentistry more productive, improve access to oral healthcare and grow the dental marketplace.
