MELVILLE, New York--Henry Schein, Inc., a provider of health-care products and services to office-based practitioners in the North American and European markets, has announced the launch of DDX.
DDX is a desktop and Web-based application that enables communication between dental practices and dental labs, as well as between a doctor's practice- management software and the laboratory's lab-management application. With DDX, doctors and labs can be connected digitally.
DDX is the technology platform for digital dentistry that will enable dental practices to move beyond traditional telephone communication with their labs. This should improve efficiency and increasing profitability.
Case submission, digital file transfer and management, case status updates, pickup reminders, and account payments are provided through DDX. For labs with DDX-enabled lab-management software, DDX is integrated to provide full account details including aged balances, access to statements, and invoices available to practices.
"DDX has been developed as an open network into which we will connect a wide variety of other technologies," said Dr. Bruce Lieberthal, Henry Schein Practice Solutions, vice president of product management and development. "In this way, DDX is truly the launching pad for new opportunities in digital dentistry."
DDX has created the potential for dentists to work with any lab. Currently, more than 30,000 practices in the United States that run DENTRIX G3 or Easy Dental 2008 can submit cases, transmit digital case files, and communicate with their lab through DDX via their practice-management software.
Dentists who are not using DENTRIX, Easy Dental, or one of Henry Schein's specialty products can make these submissions and communicate using the DDX Web interface. In addition, the more than 1,000 labs that run Labnet lab-management software can communicate digitally with doctors through DDX.
In the coming months, additional technologies will be integrated into DDX. For more information, visit DDX.
