The Southern Nevada Dental Society hosted a banquet Sept. 9 at the Gold Coast Hotel.
The event was to present an award to the dentist of the year who has contributed to his or her profession, along with service to the community.
This will be an annual affair and the award will be named The Fae Ahlstom Award. This is the first of its kind.
The first recipient of the award is Dr. Jim Jones in recognition for his dedication to his profession and unselfish services to the community.
The city of Henderson proclaimed Sept. 10 as Fae Ahlstrom Day, and the Fae Ahlstrom Award will be presented to the deserving dentist of the year on this day.
This is a milestone in the life of Dr. Ahlstrom. She was a pioneer in the field and a dedicated servant to her profession and her community.
A disc of the occasion and festivities is being prepared and will be distributed.
