American Academy of Periodontology Foundation board of directors elects new president

CHICAGO--The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation board of directors recently elected Robert Ferris, DDS, PhD, of Altamont Springs, Fla., as its president.

The board also elected Jack Caton, DDS, MS, of Pittsford, N.Y., as vice president, and Bryan Frantz, DMD, of Scranton, Penn., as secretary-treasurer. The AAP Foundation board elections took place at its annual meeting in September.

Dr. Ferris was a founding officer of the Foundation has served on the Foundation board in various capacities since 1998, including director, secretary-treasurer, and vice president.

Dr. Caton has served several terms with the Foundation board, and at the time of his election in 2002, was chair of the Foundation's Gerald M. Bowers Endowment Fund for the American Board of Periodontology. In 2007, he was appointed to serve as Co-chair of the AAPF Education Campaign Task Force.

Dr. Frantz was elected to the Foundation board of directors in 2005 and currently chairs the Foundation's Ambassador Program.
