Campaign aims to educate the public through national advertising, and by providing dentists with marketing materials to spread this message to their local communities.

LOS ANGELES, California--Fred Joyal, CEO and cofounder of 1-800-DENTIST, a leading free resource for consumers in search of a dentist, took the floor at the Dental Trade Alliance annual meeting Aug. 12, 2009, in support of the DTA's "Oral Healthcare Can't Wait" campaign

Joyal spoke after Gary W. Price, CEO of the DTA, announced the launch of the national awareness initiative that promotes the importance of regular dental care and sheds light on the risks of neglecting oral health.

Sponsored by the DTA, a nonprofit association representing leading dental manufacturers, distributors and laboratories, this campaign aims to educate the public through national advertising, and by providing dentists with marketing materials to spread this message to their local communities.

As CEO of 1-800-DENTIST, Fred Joyal has written and appeared in hundreds of commercials educating the public about oral health.

In this role, he joins a lineup of industry leaders, including the DTA and Lanmark Group--a dental advertising, marketing and public relations agency that created the campaign's Web site and collateral.

"We're ecstatic to have experts like Fred Joyal and Lanmark Group promoting this cause," said Gary W. Price, CEO of Dental Trade Alliance.

"Fred's company, 1-800-DENTIST, has been at the forefront of educating consumers about oral health for over 20 years and the industry expertise provided by Lanmark Group has been invaluable. By giving dentists the tools to help spread the word to their own patients, we can significantly improve the state of oral health in this country."

The campaign's free marketing resources available to dentists include:

* Press release templates: Assists dentists in communicating with their local media

* Television commercials: Can be personalized and aired online or on broadcast TV

* Patient recall cards: Help dentists keep their patient base informed and coming in regularly

* E-mail templates: Provide professionally designed e-mail messages to communicate with patients online

* Newspaper ads: Can be customized to each practice and placed in local newspapers

* Patient education posters: An easy way to spread the word to new and existing patients

"It's a great honor to be asked to join this campaign," said Fred Joyal. "Too few consumers realize the extent to which poor oral health is linked to other serious conditions like diabetes and heart disease. This is a great opportunity for the dental industry to come together and communicate this important message to the public."
