Two companies to serve as authorized milling center partners for SensAble

Remedent and Precise Structures Milling Center will provide milled crown and bridge fabrication services, in zirconia, and other materials.

WOBURN, Massachusetts--SensAble Technologies, a provider of 3D touch-enabled modeling solutions, dental CAD/CAM solutions and haptic devices, has announced partnerships with dental industry players to offer fabrication services for milled crowns and bridges.

This will take place in a variety of materials, including zirconia, to SensAble Dental Lab System owners.

Partners include Remedent, of Ghent, Belgium--an international leader in oral care and cosmetic dentistry products--and Precise Structures Milling Center of Laguna Hills Calif., which operates milling centers in Laguna Hills and Oshawa, Ontario.

These SensAble authorized milling centers will fabricate milled restorations directly from files created by the SensAble Dental Lab System.

With demand for all-ceramic dental prosthetics growing at 10 times the rate of traditional materials, and more than 72 percent of dental lab owners citing an uptick in demand for zirconia-milled restorations in the past two years, the establishment of SensAble authorized milling center partners gives dental labs more flexibility to choose the production approach that best suits their needs.

SensAble Dental Lab System customers will be able to either print 3D resin parts for metal casting or ceramic pressing, or order milled substructures or ceramic overstructures from SensAble authorized milling centers.

"The growth in all-ceramic crown and bridge restorations is driven by both patients'desire for enhanced esthetics and dentists' awareness that dental CAD/CAM systems like the SensAble Dental Lab System can produce superior fitting restorations," said Cameron Karpowitz, president of Precise Structures Milling Center. "We're pleased to offer our expertise in milling to SensAble's customers, and know that they will get great results."

Added Guy De Vreese, chief executive officer of Remedent: "We are excited to be the first SensAble milling center in Europe and offer this service to SensAble Dental Lab customers. We currently mill veneers for our GlamSmile and Lumineer products, and with our new milling system, we'll be able to offer fabrication in a variety of materials, including zirconia, IPS e.max, cobalt chrome, alumina and composite materials. This new service is a natural extension of our partnership with SensAble."

According to Bob Steingart, president of SensAble Dental Products, "The SensAble Dental Lab System is already the most versatile system available, and by adding an outsourcing fabrication option for milled restorations through Remedent and Precise Structures Milling Center, we're making sure our system provides the business flexibility that dental labs need today. And, our software's flexibility makes it easy to design a full contour restoration in minutes, and then generate a split file, creating both an anatomical substructure for milling and a resin pattern overstructure for pressing. That type of productivity is what sets the SensAble Dental Lab System apart."

Milling capabilities will be supported in the forthcoming Release 3 of the SensAble Dental Lab System software, which is scheduled for general availability at the end of April.

Detailed information on each milling center's capabilities and services is available through SensAble's authorized milling center partners, Remedent and Precise Structures Milling Center.
