Position Title: Clinical Director

Reports To: Executive Director

Responsive To: Operations Director
Development Director
Board of Directors

Summary: The Clinical Director has the authority and responsibility to establish, implement, and monitor optimal systems and procedures that will consistently result in efficient, effective, and highly productive clinical service delivery. Seamlessly integrating prevention, education, and treatment, the Clinical Director will assure that The Children's Dental Center provides a patient-centered "dental home" for underserved and uninsured children that utilizes both intramural and extramural resources to measurably improve their oral health and overall health.

Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Management and Administration

�X First and foremost, understand patient needs and assure delivery of outstanding clinical care
�X Provide exemplary efficient, productive and quality clinical care
�X Maintain effective ratios of paid and volunteer staff as well as health professions students for optimal clinical service delivery
�X Monitor patient scheduling (new, ongoing, and recall) to maximize utilization of facilities
�X Establishes and/or maintains effective working relationships with key service provider groups
�X Develop and supervise case management program to integrate all phases of total patient care
�X Develop and implement strategies to identify and to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness
�X Support Operations Director in development and administration/management of annual budget for clinical programming
�X Upgrade and maintain Quality Assurance Program
�X Support Operations Director in continual review and maintenance of practice management software to facilitate scheduling, monitoring of productivity, billing and claims processing, and the transition to digital patient files
�X Supervise maintenance and care of dental equipment and facility
�X Assure compliance with all federal, state, county regulations, statutes, and ordinances

B. Human Relations

�X Recruit, develop and retain the best talent for each clinical position
�X Supervise and manage all professional clinical staff ¡V paid and volunteer - including employee training and performance reviews
�X Develop and maintain structured program for professional growth and development of all clinical staff
�X Develop and implement a clinical volunteer program to recruit and retain adequate numbers of individuals to attain annual goals
�X Assure that all clinical volunteers and health professions students participate in an optimal orientation program prior to performing their services
�X Interaction with academic partners to collaborate on service and/or research programs consistent with the agency's strategic planning activities and direction
�X Manage and evaluate health professions students and faculty

Ideal Skills / Experience:

�X California licensed practitioner
�X At least five years clinical experience in private practice setting
�X Public health or community health experience preferred
�X Membership in appropriate professional associations
�X Strong leadership abilities and a track record in effective personnel management
�X Outstanding organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple deadlines
�X Excellent oral and written communication skills
�X Personal commitment to delivering high quality services to underserved, ethnic/racial minorities
