Dentist creates a breakthrough technique for gum grafts
Dr. Michael Imberman has developed a unique procedure for gum grafts, whereby he uses a sterile packaged tissue that results in much less discomfort, decreased soreness and bleeding, better esthetic appearance, and faster healing and recovery times.
Michael Imberman DMD, a leading periodontist in Southern California, has created a breakthrough technique for gum grafts. As a result of this unique procedure, Dr. Imberman does not need to harvest tissue from a patient’s palate for a graft. Instead, he bypasses the traditional and painful procedure by using a sterile packaged tissue that results in much less discomfort, decreased soreness and bleeding, better aesthetic appearance, and faster healing and recovery times.
Traditional gum grafts involve cutting tissue from the roof of a patient’s mouth and surgically placing it in the affected gum area. This can be extremely painful and inconvenient, and can result in long-lasting soreness and prolonged recoveries. To deliver better dental care to patients, Dr. Imberman has created a proven, safe alternative that eliminates much of the pain and discomfort of the traditional procedure.
With the AlloDerm gum graft procedure that Dr. Imberman originated, the sterile tissue matrix is surgically positioned over the exposed root or affected area, grafting the tissue to the gums and providing a significantly more comfortable and effective remedy. Unlike synthetic and other less optimal tissue replacement strategies, the AlloDerm tissue matrix features a unique, noninjurious process that enables a patient’s own cells to safely foster tissue regeneration.
“The AlloDerm graft is a significant advancement in dental care. I can perform critical surgical grafts without the discomfort and pain that so many patients used to suffer with the old technique,” noted Dr. Imberman. “Less bleeding, faster recoveries, and decreased soreness, all with proven effectiveness — this procedure is a boon to patients,” he added.
