As I drove back home late last night from downtown Denver, the images of the EVENTS UNFOLDING IN HOUSTON AND SOUTH TEXAS were on my mind.

I suddenly realized that my simple drive home was something that so many of our fellow Americans in south Texas are not able to do, not only because their roads are flooded, but also because they don’t have homes to go back to or cars to drive thanks to the torrential rains brought by Hurricane Harvey and its remnants.

I have seen the pictures of people trying to find shelter and escape the floodwaters. My heart hurts for them. I don’t want to just send them thoughts and prayers. I want to do more.

At IgniteDA and DentistryIQ, our entire goal is to empower, enlighten, and educate dental assistants. We want to help dental assistants enjoy their careers more and understand exactly how valuable they are to the bottom line. Impacting dental assistants every day is important to us. However, we now have the opportunity to impact some dental assistants in a completely different and life-changing way.

IgniteDA is partnering with RevenueWell and DentistryIQ to help a dental assistant or dental assistants from south Texas get back on his or her feet. We know that assistants in that region are not only dealing with their homes being threatened, but also seeing their dental practices shut down or damaged as well.

It's called “Assistants Helping Assistants.” We are excited to be able to provide a way for a dental assistant in a different part of the country to know he or she made a difference in a colleague’s life in south Texas.

We have set up a GoFundMe account that you can access by clicking here. It’s an easy way for you to donate and know your funds are going directly to help someone in this flood-ravaged area.

We will work with DentistryIQ, home of Dental Assistant & Office Manager Digest (DAOMD) e-newsletter, to provide updates and show you exactly how you helped make a difference and change someone’s despair into hope.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. I can’t wait to share how you made a difference. If you have questions or know a dental assistant we can help, contact me at [email protected].
