doctors pet peeve

How would you respond to this doctor's pet peeve?
Dec. 7, 2011

Last month, we reported the "5 Mega Pet Peeves" (link) categories from the survey, “What is your number one pet peeve?”

Additionally, I've posted a few of the individual responses on the RDH eVillage Facebook page (click here), and readers have been providing suggestions and solution steps.

Yet, I have saved one doctor’s response for last. The following was submitted from an employer:

“My pet peeve is: Lazy, whining, and gossiping employees who do not understand that it is not all about them. Ultimately, we are there to provide a service for our patients, and do so with compassion and enthusiasm. Without the patients, these ladies would not have a job: Da, get a clue!”

Ouch, this may be difficult to read. Yet, after being a hygienist for over 22 years, I can understand his or her frustration. In addition, I understand it is sometimes difficult to look in the mirror and think, “Huh, this may be me.”

As always, I welcome any thoughts or reactions — either post on the RDH eVillage Facebook page or email me at [email protected]
