Almost 2,000 dental hygienists from all 50 states provided salary and benefits information in a survey, allowing RDH eVillage to provide the state-by-state breakdown below.

Overall, 1,767 dental hygienists participated in the annual survey. The first report about the results focused on the national response to the questions, which also asked about the effect of the economy on the profession. View part 1 here.

Upcoming articles in RDH eVillage will also address statistics from this survey. If you have not answered the questions yet, you can participate by taking the survey here.

The first part of the annual salary survey indicated that the national average of hourly rates for dental hygienists is $42.01 ($323.64 is the average daily rate). The second part of this survey examines salaries and benefits on a state level.

Each link below to the various states contains at least some information regarding salaries. However, the number of responses from a few states was so low that we felt the percentages of hygienists receiving benefits might be misleading.
