In 1991, Dr. Jay Grossman, a dentist, philanthropist, member of the United States Navy Dental Corps, founded Homeless Not Toothless. He opened his office doors to build his own private practice and began treating the homeless and underserved through free dental services.
Since 1991, Homeless Not Toothless has donated more than $2 million worth of dental care. This year marks Homeless Not Toothless 20th Anniversary for serving the underserved public of Los Angeles.
Homeless Not Toothless is raising funds this year to support its programs and services. With help from donation, this project can continue to provide health care for the homeless and foster children.
Dr. Grossman said, “I feel incredibly satisfied with my choices. I am so thankful for all the people who have helped me get to where I am today, so it’s important to me to reciprocate with some sort of kindness and generosity.”
The dentists who volunteer their time either pay for laboratory expenses themselves or work with labs who donate dental work as their way of contributing to this cause. In addition, the dentists and staff who work with the homeless patients do so without any financial compensation.
Along with actors Sharon Stone and William H. Macy, and author Antwone Fisher, Homeless Not Toothless is committed to continue to grow with this charity, to help continuing to provide services to the Los Angeles Community and other Southern California Communities through the support of the public!
