Eastman Kodak Companys dental products business has announced it is increasing U.S. production of its long-lasting local anesthetic, Cook-Waite Marcaine H10.5% bupivacaine.

Cook-Waite Marcaine is formulated to give dental patients up to seven hours of pain relief during and after dental procedures. It is ideal for applications such as extraction of impacted third molars, periapical surgery, periodontal surgery, gingivectomy, curettage, endodontic treatment or therapy, prolonged crown and bridge preparations and prolonged operative procedures.

Kodaks dental business is increasing production of its Marcaine local anesthetic in anticipation of increased demand. "Recent changes in the marketing of long-lasting local anesthetics in the U.S. dental market have suggested that more dentists will be turning to Kodak in the coming months," said James Flood, local anesthetics product line manager, Kodak dental products. "We have prepared our production facilities to serve endodontists, oral surgeons or any dentist who needs this type of anesthetic."

Cook-Waite Marcaine is bupivicaine hydrochloride and epinephrine injection, USP (HCI 0.5 percent with epinephrine 1:200,000 as bitartrate). It is available from leading dental products dealers. For more information, visit the Kodak website at www.kodak.com/go/dental or call 800-933-8031.
