Introduction
The PeriZone PerioPatch is a unique oral health product created to act as a barrier and provide relief from the signs and symptoms of oral inflammation and trauma. The hydrogel patch absorbs wound exudates, and in turn promotes natural healing. The concept of absorbing wound exudates to facilitate healing is used in medicine--from the battlefield to the OR. The patch forms a protective seal over inflamed and irritated oral tissues, and provides protection from further irritation that may be caused by normal activities (i.e., eating and speaking).

The PeriZone PerioPatch contains gum acacia among other ingredients, which when coming into contact with moist oral mucosa, securely adheres to the affected area, ensuring a gentle, shielding barrier. The product effectively keeps out possible irritants that may aggravate the wound, enabling the patient to heal comfortably despite the harsh oral environment. The patch was designed in a compact size (elliptical in shape--25 mm x 8 mm) to be handled easily by patients, and comes in a pleasant mild strawberry flavor.Patient profile
PeriZone PerioPatch is ideal for patients suffering from the following conditions:• Irritated gums (such as immediately following SRP), wounds, injuries, and ulcerations of the gingiva and oral mucosa• Stomatitis, minor chafing, and traumatic ulcers• Abrasions caused by braces and dentures• Trauma associated with dental proceduresPatient instructions
After identifying the affected area, the patient should be advised to swallow, and then attach the lighter side of the patch directly to the affected area. In the event that multiple areas of the mouth are affected, the patient may place more than one PeriZone PerioPatch in the mouth at the same time to protect multiple areas simultaneously. Patients may apply one patch on the affected area 1 to 3 times a day for up to 3 days.Studies show that the application of 3 patches on the first day is the most efficacious. The outer backing of the patch will loosen and dislodge after an hour or two. It can then be removed. The underlying hydrogel will remain on the tissue for the next several hours. All components of the gel are ingestible, so there is no concern if any part of the patch is swallowed. While the gel is in place, the patient should not brush or floss in the area of the patch, nor eat for one hour after application. The patch should not be applied prior to sleeping. The product will be distributed to patients through dental offices. Each patient packet contains six individually wrapped PerioPatches and instructions for use. Dental professionals may inquire about samples and purchase PerioPatch by calling MIS Implants Technologies at (866) 797-1333.
