CDC issues update on variant H3N2 influenza
On August 3, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported an additional 12 human infections with variant swine-origin H3N2 (H3N2v) influenza in the United States, bringing the total to 29 in the past year. This has prompted health officials to closely monitor the virus for any increase in its now-limited ability to spread from person to person.
