New executive committee announced

Academy of General Dentistry releases name of recently installed leadership group.

CHICAGO--The Academy of General Dentistry has announced its newly elected and installed executive committee.

A formal ceremony to recognize AGD's new leaders was held during the second
session of the House of Delegates at the AGD's Annual Meeting and Exposition Aug. 6 in Denver.

President – Bruce R. DeGinder, DDS, MAGD
Bruce R. DeGinder, DDS, MAGD, of Williamsburg, Va., was installed as AGD
president, a position which he will hold for one year. Dr. DeGinder has served the AGD as member of the Strategic Advancement Committee, chair of the Council on Membership, Marketplace Task Force chair and a Strategic and
Tactical Assessment and Response (STAR) program training specialist. He was
the recipient of the 2003 AGD Distinguished Service Award.

President-Elect – Vincent Mayher, DMD, MAGD
Vincent Mayher, DMD, MAGD, of Haddonfield, N.J., was installed as
president-elect. He will serve for one year, and then automatically ascend to the position of AGD president in 2007. Dr. Mayher has served the AGD as a Board of Trustees member from New Jersey, chair of the AGD's Committee on Budget and Finance, and a member of the AGD Foundation's Board of Directors. Through the years, he has also served as the NJAGD Regional Director and six years on the AGD's Council on Legislative and Governmental Affairs.

Vice-President – Paula Jones, DDS, FAGD
Paula Jones, DDS, FAGD, of Naperville, Ill., was elected as vice-president. She will serve for one year, and then automatically ascend to the position of AGD president-elect in 2007. Dr. Jones has provided leadership within the AGD in many capacities. She has served as Region 8 (Ill.) Trustee, Regional Director of Illinois, chair of the Council on Membership and has served three terms as a member of the AGD Foundation's Board of Directors.

Secretary – David Halpern, DDS, MAGD
David F. Halpern, DDS, MAGD, of Columbia, Md., will continue his term as AGD
secretary. He has been a member of the AGD and ADA since 1978. Within the
AGD, he has served on the BOT, as a delegate to the AGD House, chair of the
Council on Dental Education, and member of the Publications Committee,
Strategic Advancement Committee and Committee on Budget and Finance.

Treasurer – Jeffrey Cole, DDS, MBA, FAGD
Jeffrey M. Cole, DDS, FAGD, of Wilmington, Del., was elected AGD treasurer.
Within the AGD, Dr. Cole has actively been involved as the BOT member for
Region 5, which is comprised of Washington, D.C., Delaware, Maryland and
Virginia. Before he was elected as a BOT member, Dr. Cole served on the AGD
Council on Dental Care, Council on Dental Education, and chaired the New
Program Development Subcommittee.

Speaker of the House- Howard R. Gamble, DMD, FAGD
Howard R. Gamble, DMD, FAGD, of Sheffield, Ala., will continue his term as
AGD Speaker of the House. He has served on the National Sponsor Approval and
Internet Committees, the Market Place Task Force, and the Councils on
Legislative and Government Affairs, Dental Care and Communications. He is an
AGD Information Technology Officer for the AGD Disaster Plan and received
the AGD Distinguished Service Award in 2004.

Editor - Roger D. Winland, DDS, MS, MAGD
Roger D. Winland, DDS, MS, MAGD, of Athens, Ohio, will continue his term as
editor for the eleventh consecutive year. Before becoming the AGD's editor,
Dr. Winland was the editor of the AGD's Ohio chapter's award-winning
newsletter The Family Dentist. He has won numerous accolades from the AGD's
annual publications contest. Dr. Winland is a former president of the Ohio
AGD and the Hocking Valley Dental Society.

Immediate Past President – Bruce A. Burton, DMD, MAGD, ABGD
Bruce A. Burton, DMD, MAGD of Hood River, Ore., ended his term as AGD
president. He has held a number of leadership positions within the AGD,
including president of the AGD Foundation, vice president, secretary, BOT
member and chair of the Publications Committee. Dr. Burton has also served
as a member of the Strategic Advancement Committee and Council on Dental
Care. Active in the Oregon AGD, Dr. Burton has served as president,
secretary and treasurer.
