A-dec's service to dental education and to LSU's School of Dentistry after Hurricane Katrina is recognized.

NEWBERG, Oregon--A-dec Inc. received a Presidential Citation Award from the American Dental Education Association at the organization's opening session of the House of Delegates and Awards Ceremony in March in Orlando, Fla.

The award was given to recognize A-dec's longstanding support of dental education and to highlight A-dec's aid to Louisiana State University in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

The award was presented by ADEA President and Dean of LSU's Health
Sciences Center School of Dentistry, Eric J. Hovland, DDS, MEd, MBA.

"We lost our school. We needed operatories and we needed them fast. Our
friends at A-dec stepped forward," said Dr. Hovland. "They provided not only
the equipment, but the workforce, the people to plan, develop and install
the clinic operatories. A-dec has been part of the dental education family for
many years. It's comforting to know we have a corporate member like A-dec
that's there when needed."

A-dec's response to the disaster included providing LSU's dental school 30
operatories of dental equipment on loan. In addition, A-dec provided the
freight and labor to install the equipment at the school's new temporary
facility.

"A-dec is truly proud to have been able to make a difference with this
gesture," said Peggy Fisher, A-dec Schools and Government Regional Sales
Manager, who accepted the award on behalf of A-dec.

"Our hope was to enable the school and students to resume their dental education quickly despite the unfortunate circumstances. We did our best to achieve that goal, and are very grateful and humbled by this acknowledgement."

The Presidential Citation Award honors those individuals and institutions
that have significantly contributed to the mission of ADEA: "to lead individuals and institutions of the dental education community to address contemporary issues influencing education, research, and the delivery of oral health care for the improvement of the health of the public."
