Bringing together leading dentists worldwide for a seven-day exchange of ideas and presentations, the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity will hold its 97th International Convention in Vancouver, Canada. Themed Supernatural Eh-O, the convention will take place Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, through Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver.
"For as long as this organization has been in existence, the convention has been a much-anticipated event for our members," said Howard Pranikoff, Alpha Omega President. "Not only is it a great opportunity to expand your education and network with other members of the dental community; but over time, it has become a traditional gathering of friends."
Celebrating almost a century of existence, the convention will include a three-day Continuing Education (CE) Symposium held on Monday, Dec. 27, Tuesday, Dec. 28, and Thursday, Dec. 30. Dentists worldwide will be invited to join in the CE program featuring a line-up of prominent speakers including Dr. Barry Freydberg and Steve Anderson, founder and president of Dental Boot Kamp, a leading dental continuing education program for dental practice marketing.
Freydberg will present "How to be a High Tech Dentist: Taking Advantage of the Latest from the Treatment Room to Cyberspace," where he will explore the essential marketing and management tools the Internet has to offer. He will also address how to establish an online presence in order to set the stage for enhancing treatment acceptance, growth and referrals in practices. Freydberg is a consultant to the ADA Council on Dental Practice. He lectures for the ADA Seminar series and has authored numerous articles on management and technology issues in dentistry, which have been published worldwide.
Anderson's presentation will focus on ideas, techniques and systems that can take a dentist's case acceptance and practice results to the next level. The presentation will touch on the natural laws of team case acceptance, team treatment presentation and patient education. For over 15 years, Anderson has entertained and educated dental teams at major dental meetings across North America. He is the author of five books, dozens of audio and video learning programs and hundreds of articles published all over the English-speaking world.
Other speakers include Susan Isaac, Dr. Israel Kaffe, G. Kent Mangelson, Dr. Jonathan Mann, Dr. Robert Margeas, Dr. Fred Margolis, Laura Margolis and Dr. Len Smith. Comprehensive topics range from improving dental care through total asset protection and prevention and the Erbium Laser, to dental radiography and women's wellness.
For children attending the event, Candi Drescher and Kidz Adventures return again with a jam-packed week of exciting activities including snow tubing, trips to the Vancouver Aquarium, Science World, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Vancouver Maritime Museum and more. Children will end the fun-filled week with their own private New Year's Eve party held in conjunction with the convention.
In addition to the convention, this year's Foundation event will be at the Storyeum on Monday, December 27. For the first time ever, two levels of participation will be offered to allow families and students to attend the event and support the Foundation. Located in trendy Gastown, visitors will experience the history of British Columbia via interactive multimedia displays and live theatre. Dinner will follow at Aqua Riva Restaurant.
Continuing the fun, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of Vancouver as well as a ski trip to Whistler on Wednesday, December 29. The convention will close with the celebration of Shabbat on December 31, followed by a New Year's Eve celebration featuring special guest entertainment, Tiny Tina, a must-see Tina Turner impersonator.
