Dental Hygienist Salary Survey 2014
Difficulty in finding a job as a dental hygienist in Virginia
Observation: Virginia trends along the national averages very closely. The group who believe it is very difficult to find employment as a dental hygienist is a little more that a percentage point over the national consensus about the job market.
Length of time since last pay raise in Virginia
Observation: Again, Virginia matches up very well against the national averages for the awarding of pay raises. The “good feeling” category here — a raise within last 12 months — is approximately a percentage point below the national average.
Most common hourly pay rates in Virginia
$32, $39, $40
Observation: The discrepancy in the range of pay rates is likely attributed to the Beltway; 26% indicated they work in the metropolitan area outside the District of Columbia. For example, the hourly rates reported from the state stretched from $28 an hour to $56 an hour. Due to the cluster of pay arrangements at the high end, though, Virginia ranks above national averages for pay.
Descriptions of pay arrangements based on production or commission
- Hygiene production, minus $17 per patient, minus exam fee for certain insurance, divided by three results in my daily salary.
- If I meet hygiene production criteria, I receive $200. If office also makes production goal, I get another $100.
