Company hopes construction of new basketball arena will attract new students to Marquette's dental school.

Doral Dental USA has contributed $2 million toward the construction of the Al McGuire Center at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Doral Dental contracts with managed-care organizations and state governments to provide administrative services to Medicaid, Medicare, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and commercial dental programs.

"The mission of Doral Dental is to provide access to quality dental care for all of America's children," said Gregory J. Borca, CEO of Doral Dental. "But we can't do that if there are not enough dentists to serve this country's population. There is, and will continue to be, a shortage of dentists if something is not done. Marquette University has the only dental school in Wisconsin, and it must be filled to overflowing.

"We believe that the McGuire Center will be a state-of-the-art training facility for basketball talent, and it will become an essential tool in the rebuilding of the University's basketball program. But we also believe it will become an important recruiting tool for both Marquette and its dental school. The McGuire Center will bring much needed attention to a world-class institution, and a first-rate basketball program. We hope that attention will, in turn, maximize enrollment in the dental school."

The donation to the McGuire Center is also a tribute to Doral's Chairman of the Board and Marquette alum, Craig Kasten.

"We have chosen to honor him in this way because he truly exemplifies Marquette's credo: excellence, faith, leadership, and service to others," Borca said.

After presenting a check to Marquette University, Borca cited a well-known quote by Al McGuire. "I like standing room only. You need charisma. There should be electricity. When I look into the arena, the first thing I do is look at the four corner seats. If those are sold, I've done my job."
