Less than two years after entering the dental digital radiography market, Kodak's Dental Systems Group has emerged as a market leader, earning industry praise for the imaging quality of its digital technology.
Two recent, independent studies have confirmed that the KODAK RVG 6000 Digital Radiography System, Kodak's premier intraoral radiography solution, delivers the highest available image quality in the industry. In a comparison of digital intraoral system technology, Drs. Allan G. Farman and Taeko T. Farman of The University of Louisville evaluated 18 intraoral sensors.
The RVG 6000 System captured images at a spatial resolution of greater than or equal to 20 line pairs per millimeter. This was the highest spatial resolution achieved by any digital radiography sensor tested. (Spatial resolution is a measure of an imaging technology's ability to resolve detail.)
The study also determined that the RVG 6000 System provides the highest latitude ratio, ~21:1, of any digital intraoral sensor. High latitude ratios indicate a wide exposure range, minimizing the risk that images will be under- or over-exposed.
The Farman and Farman study was published in the April 2005 issue of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontology (Vol. 99, No. 4).
