The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) had a record breaking annual session meeting this year at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston on April 18-21. In addition to having the largest exhibit hall with more than 100 major dental and medical suppliers to date, the Boston meeting had the highest ever attendance, with more than 4,000 attendees from 54 counties.Attendees had the choice between 285 hours of continuing education from courses that covered practice management to the latest technologies in the field. They networked with old and new friends, watched live surgeries from the best in the field, and learned new techniques to use to treat their patients with the highest level of care. Many elections occurred during the meeting, which brought on new members to the Board of Directors, board members of the American Board of Endodontics, and the AAE Foundation Board of Trustees. During an awards ceremony, 70 new diplomates — the largest number ever — received their pins, and the AAE Foundation, which supports endodontic research and encourages endodontic educators in the United States and Canada to further their skills, raised $1.3 million this year.In addition to supporting the Foundation, attendees had the opportunity to donate approved care package items or make a financial contribution to send items to the military abroad at a Support the Troops booth. By the end of the meeting, 106 people donated to the cause and the AAE raised nearly $5,000 to aid U.S. military personnel. Kulild. “The CE choices were stellar, and the networking events and camaraderie, combined with the local flavor of Boston, came together in a complete package that made this year's annual session a fantastic opportunity.”Next year’s annual session will take place in Honolulu from April 17-20, 2013. Information about the meeting will be posted later in the year on the AAE's website, but if you have questions in the meantime, please contact the meetings department.About the American Association of EndodontistsThe American Association of Endodontists, headquartered in Chicago, Ill., represents more than 7,500 members worldwide.
