ADA Bestows Community Preventative Dentistry Awards

Awards recognize diverse efforts to provide oral health education and access to communities throughout the U.S.

The American Dental Association's Council on Access, Prevention and Interprofessional Relations has announced the winners of its 2002 Community Preventive Dentistry Award (supported by a generous grant from Johnson & Johnson Oral Health Products) and its 2002 Geriatric Oral Health Care Award (supported by a generous grant from Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Group).

Both awards are sponsored annually by the American Dental Association through its Health Foundation. The Community Preventive Dentistry Award's first place program is the St. Leo Dental Clinic (Solana Beach, California).

Meritorious awards are being presented to "Give Kids A Smile ? St. Louis (St. Louis, Missouri); Purchase Area Free Dental Clinic (Murray, Kentucky) and the Maryland State Model of Oral Cancer Prevention and Early Detection (Baltimore, Maryland). The Geriatric Oral Health Care Award is being presented to the Senior Services Dental Health Clinic at SSM St. Joseph Health Center (St. Charles, Missouri).
