Metformin is a widely used treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes, and scientists have begun to notice a trend toward cancer reduction in a number of organ sites.

Recent findings were published in Cancer Prevention Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, suggesting that metformin may protect against oral cancer.
