July is just around the corner, and we’re all excited about our 85th Annual Meeting and Conference, “Wealth and Wellness.”

We want you to know about a couple of new events we’ve added to the program that will make your experience memorable:

Welcome Reception

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13
Immediately after our opening session with best-selling author Gail Evans, join us for a one-of-a-kind Welcome Reception featuring champagne, desserts, and a presentation by world-renowned jeweler Tiffany & Company, who will present a short program on how the company has influenced fashion throughout the years. Come for fun, networking, and chocolate. At AAWD, there’s something for everyone.

Spouse’s Program

11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 14
While you’re in session Friday to “Create the Practice of your Dreams,” send your spouse bowling. The Alliance of the American Dental Association cordially invites your spouse to be their guest for the afternoon. First, attendees will take part in a focus group about the Alliance, then it’s on to Southport Lanes. At this landmark bowling alley, the pins are still set the old-fashioned way - by pin boys! Southport Lanes features bowling, pool, and a sidewalk café. Transportation, a buffet lunch, and two hours of unlimited bowling are included. Children 10 and older are welcome.

Local Levels

AAWD is enjoying great success. We’ve increased our membership by nearly 25 percent in the past five years, and we’ve had successful annual meetings with top-notch speakers, all designed with women dentists in mind. But we can’t do it alone; we need you.

Participation at the local level is where you’ll develop your most important networking and support contacts. If there isn’t a local chapter in your area and you would like one, volunteer to get one started.

There are many reasons why you should have a local AAWD. Here are two:

It provides a support network for fellow women dentists to share ideas, solve problems, and make new friends.

Changing demographics in dentistry will affect the entire industry. There is strength in numbers. Be part of the premier organization for women dentists.

AAWD HQ wants to help. We can help with membership billing, seminars, receptions, publishing your news in the “Chronicle” and on our Web site, providing CE, contacting women dentists in your area and inviting them to join. Interested? Call AAWD Headquarters at (800) 920-2293. We’ll send you a handbook that contains step-by-step instructions to get you started.
