A time to give: Dr. Davey and his mobile dental van dream

Dec. 14, 2010
Dr. David Turok and Evita Sanchez are finalists in the Pepsi Refresh Project. Vote for them by December 31 so their mobile dental van to provide dentistry to the underserved, mainly children, can become a reality.
Dr. David Turok and Evita Sanchez found out they shared a passion for community outreach dentistry when they started working together in Chicago, Ill. Dr. Turok had served on various dental mission trips to rural underserved areas as well as to Jamaica when he was a dental student in Virginia. Mrs. Sanchez had similar experiences, and was in the process of getting her master’s degree in public health. Evita soon showed Dr. Turok the ropes of Chicago outreach dentistry, including volunteering at the Special Olympics. They both knew they wanted to do something big. That’s when they came up with the idea for a mobile dental van.
