March 2, 2021
Don't have enough time to catch up on much of the latest research? Dr. Maria Geisinger shares some important updates about periodontology you'll want to share with your patients now.

The links between periodontology and COVID-19 are becoming more clear each day. New research is always being released, but there's often not enough time in the day to read it all. Dr. Maria Geisinger, a periodontist. summarizes some of the recent findings.

The research in this month's issue of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology reveals a higher rate of hospitalization, ventilation, and death among people with alveolar bone loss who contract COVID-19. Dr. Geisinger discusses more findings and why they're important.

Drs. Pamela Maragliano-Muniz and Geisinger agree that sharing this information with patients is very important for dentists to do, not to scare them but to motivate them to pay closer attention to their oral health.

Stay tuned for an exciting professional announcement from Dr. Geisinger regarding her role in the American Academy of Periodontology.
