New cannabis legislation: What dental professionals should know
About 40 states have passed some kind of legislation that has legalized cannabis use in that state for medical or recreational use. One of the components of the bill that reopened the government last year was a piece of legislation to address this issue with cannabis.
President Trump is putting it to the Surgeon General and the Department of Justice to reschedule cannabis from schedule 1 (illegal and no accepted medical use) and move it to schedule 3, so technically it may be open to research—but it will still be illegal at the federal level.
