Natural Dental Implants (NDI), AG has announced the introduction of the Replicate Immediate Tooth Replacement System 2.0 at the International Dental Show in Cologne, Germany, to be held March 10-14, 2015. The Replicate System 2.0 features theReplicate Tooth, an anatomically-shaped, 100% customizable, titanium-zirconia tooth, and the Replicate Temporary Protective Crown, a customized cover shield designed to protect the Replicate Tooth during the healing process. This new approach to single-tooth replacement offers patients an immediate, minimally invasive alternative to traditional dental implants and three-unit bridges.
The Replicate Tooth is an anatomical copy of the patient’s natural tooth that fits into the space occupied by the tooth being removed. It is one piece—a super-hydrophilic titanium root, fused to a zirconia preparation with an emerging profile similar to that of a natural tooth. Each Replicate Tooth component is designed individually and can be modified to overcome anatomical limitations or to meet specific clinical requirements. This unique approach allows general dentists and specialists to immediately replace single- and multi-rooted teeth without drilling or altering the adjacent teeth.
The process starts with a DVT/CBCT scan and dental impression. Prior to extracting the tooth, the dentist submits the data. NDI uses the data to design the patient’s custom Replicate Tooth, manufactures the Replicate Tooth, and delivers it sterile, ready to be placed at the extraction appointment. Immediately after the extraction, the Replicate Tooth is inserted into the tooth socket—without any driling. After that, the tooth is covered with the Replicate Temporary Protective Crown until it osseointegrates. Once osseointegration is complete, the Replicate Temporary Protective Crown is removed, and a final crown is placed.
“As the leader of the early clinical team I began treating patients with the Replicate System two years ago,” said Dr. Eike Peters, an oral surgeon based in Wittlich, Germany. “I am pleased with the clinical results and my patients appreciate the easy placement process and aesthetics.”
According to Ruedger Rubbert, inventor of the Replicate System and CEO of NDI AG, “[The] goal was to create a way for dentists to easily replace an entire tooth, root, and crown immediately without drilling or altering the adjacent teeth. The Replicate System is a great option for dentists who currently place implants and those who are considering placing implants. The training is minimal; there is no special equipment to buy or inventory to stock, and patients appreciate the convenience.”
The Replicate System is currently available in the European Union. It will be available for sale in the United States immediately upon FDA approval.
