Centrix has introduced the HeatSleeve self-heating composite warmer. By providing calibrated heat chairside, this new device helps to eliminate voids and spaces during the placement of composite restorations that cause postoperative sensitivity.
"Studies confirm that warming composites improves their flow and adaptation to the preparation, while maintaining its other physical properties," said Gregori M. Kurtzman, DDS, MAGD, FPFA, FACD. HeatSleeve easily slides over the composite tip or syringe. The disc is then flexed to activate the heating process, and in three minutes the composite warms to 127°F (53°C). HeatSleeve keeps the composite warm for at least 15 minutes.
Warmed composites adapt better to prep walls. Using HeatSleeve offers the added benefit of reduced expression force for dispensing the composite by nearly 70% on average.
