This self-etch, light-cure universal adhesive system—built on OptiBond technology—is a bonding agent that embodies the power and durability of a total-etch adhesive and the simplified protocol of a self-etch technique. Universal compatibility helps enable use for any type of restoration, direct or indirect.

“All bonding agents have inherent challenges, but OptiBond XTR overcomes those challenges by combining the best of each generation into one universal bonding system,” said Product Manager Michael Padilla. "Independent studies show consistently high-bond strengths to both dentin and enamel, comparable to the industry standard in both total-etch and self-etch bonding agents."

The chemistry of OptiBond XTR’s enhanced self-etch primer and optimized adhesive in this two-bottle system brings bond strengths to uncut enamel and dentin. The combination of Kerr’s GPDM monomer and proprietary Ternary Solvent System in the primer boosts enamel etching, maximizes penetration, and provides the anchor for bond performance.

The optimized adhesive provides efficient polymerization, balanced chemistry, and increased hydrophobicity. These attributes enhance mechanical strength and compatibility with composite resins, resin cement, or core build-up material.

Together, the primer and adhesive form a strong, durable bond to enhance marginal integrity with dentinal sealing to further reduce postoperative sensitivity and help ensure patient comfort.
