MacPractice has announced that MacPractice DDS, its practice management and clinical software for dentists, is compatible with MacOS Sierra and El Capitan. (i)

Dentists who want to escape the threat of Ransomware and other malware on Windows and on hosted servers in a cloud in 2017 can purchase secure MacOS and iOS native MacPractice software to run on new Macs, iPads, and iPhones from Apple.

“We’ve always known that using Macs in a doctor’s office is a money-saving proposition because of quality, ease of use, dependability, etc., but we are very excited that IBM, which recently gave [its] employees the opportunity to choose their platform themselves, [has] concluded that PCs are three times more expensive to manage than Macs,” said Mark Hollis, MacPractice’s CEO. “It is extremely challenging to keep up with Apple, but we are happy to deliver Sierra compatibility to dentists’ offices.”

MacPractice uses an all-in-one design philosophy to assist practices to more easily house and protect their patients' identity and health information. MacPractice collaborates with numerous third-party vendors to integrate Mac native products and services, such as digital imaging, e-claims, integrated network fax, and integrated secure messaging, for practice productivity and efficiency. MacPractice also provides bridges to Windows solutions.

MacPractice users’ annual fee includes all updates as well unlimited technical support by telephone, live chat, e-mail, or messaging within the software. MacPractice practice consultants provide one-on-one sales presentations, installation and training services, and on-site consultation as needed. Most MacPractice users do not require a contractual relationship with an IT vendor and spend no more than a few hundred dollars per year for on-site IT support. MacPractice practice consultants and MacPractice support team members triage with IT support at the doctor’s request.

Dentists and staff who are the sole users of a Mac and who have an Apple Watch can configure Sierra so the operating system senses their proximity and logs them in or out. This is a unique Apple advantage available to MacPractice users.

While third-party products and services are compatible with El Capitan, they might not be compatible with Sierra yet. Therefore, MacPractice recommends users verify the compatibility of all software and hardware before upgrading a MacPractice terminal to Sierra. The current release of MacPractice makes it possible for clients to use a heterogeneous network of Macs with El Capitan and/or Sierra. This will help dentists upgrade to the latest version of MacPractice without waiting for all vendors to provide compatibility for Sierra.
