Whitening system has a 96% patient satisfaction rate.

LOS ANGELES, California--Philips, the makers of Sonicare power toothbrushes, has announced the availability of the Zoom WhiteSpeed Light-Activated Whitening System.

Zoom WhiteSpeed offers different intensity settings that allow dentists to make adjustments for patients who may experience sensitivity during the whitening process, giving patients comfort while still providing results.

Out of the more than 500 patients who participated in testing of the new Zoom WhiteSpeed, 94% indicated they would recommend the treatment to family or friends and more than three-quarters said they felt little to no discomfort during the treatment. The new light is proven to whiten teeth up to eight shades in just 45 minutes. It delivers 40% percent better results than a comparable nonlight enhanced whitening system.

Zoom has provided more than four million people a brighter, whiter smile. Now, on the eve of the 10th anniversary of Zoom, Philips has used its most advanced LED whitening technology for the new light. Using blue LED technology that emits the light spectrum, Zoom WhiteSpeed accelerates and helps enhance whitening results with no compromise to safety. Of the 33 dental professionals who participated in testing the new Zoom WhiteSpeed, 85% indicated that the results were equal to or greater than previous Zoom models.

“Philips is dedicated to providing innovative solutions for dental professionals that help improve the experience and outcomes of their patients,” said Frank McGillin, general manager of Discus Dental, now a part of Philips Oral Healthcare. “Zoom WhiteSpeed helps people get their teeth to their whitest white in approximately 45 minutes, and the new variable settings allow dentists to customize treatments to ensure optimal comfort.”

In addition to enhanced results and comfort for patients, the new light also offers benefits for dental professionals. The blue LED technology provides a significantly longer-lasting light source (50,000 hours) and uses 41% less energy than previous models.

This reduces the need to purchase replacement lights and thereby decreases costs and offes a more environmentally friendly option. Zoom WhiteSpeed also offers a refreshed design and improved ergonomics with a new power cord wrap, knots, counterweight, and larger casters for easier moving.

Zoom WhiteSpeed, the first update in Zoom light technology since 2006, was launched at the 2011 Greater New York Dental Meeting.
