Heraeus Kulzer holds unique training program

When Heraeus Kulzer, Inc., the North American dental subsidiary of Hanau Germany-based Heraeus Kulzer, GmbH met at the Palms Resort in Las Vegas to discuss its debits, credits, and plans for the future, it also offered its sales and technical teams an unusual training experience.

Although most dental industry sales and technical personnel receive extensive technical training on the use of their products and technologies, they rarely get the opportunity to watch them being used in a real time clinical situation.

That’s why on January 11, Heraeus Kulzer hosted a special clinical demonstration at The Dental Implant Institute of Las Vegas. This live demonstration provided Heraeus personnel with advanced technical perspectives and product training by allowing them to directly observe how their company’s restorative products are used in a clinical environment.

Two of the focus products for this demonstration are iBond Self Etch Dental Adhesive and Venus Microhybrid Restorative Composite.

The clinical demonstration is the result of the collaboration of Dr. Mark Pitel and Dr. Dwyte Brooks. Dr. Pitel is the director of scientific and clinical affairs for Heraeus Kulzer and is currently clinical assistant professor and clinic director for the continuing dental education aesthetics program at New York University.

During the demonstration, Dr. Brooks performed the restorations while Dr. Pitel explained the procedures and fielded questions from observers.

The patients received treatment free of charge. The two candidates were selected from a variety of Nevada Dental Association-sponsored volunteer programs.

Sirona, Schein announce partnership

Sirona Dental Systems has announced the expansion of their worldwide relationship with Henry Schein, Inc., the largest distributor of healthcare products and services in the combined North American and European markets. Sullivan-Schein Dental, the U.S. dental division of Henry Schein, will be an authorized dealer of Sirona Imaging, Operatory and Instrument products in the United States. This agreement does not include Sirona’s CAD/CAM restoration equipment. Henry Schein’s relationship with Sirona significantly expanded in 2004 when Henry Schein became the largest distributor of dental products in Europe through its acquisition of demedis, which has always been Sirona’s largest customer outside of North America.

“We are excited about the expansion of this relationship,” said Jost Fischer, president and chief executive officer of Sirona Dental Systems GmbH. “Henry Schein, Inc. is currently the largest distributor of Sirona Dental Systems products outside of the United States. We expect that the expansion of this relationship into the U.S. market will strengthen both Henry Schein and Sirona’s global position.”

“We are delighted to offer Sirona’s integrated dental equipment to our customers in the United States as well as throughout Europe,” said Stanley M. Bergman, chairman, chief executive officer, and president of Henry Schein. “By combining Sirona’s strong brand name and technologically advanced products with Sullivan-Schein’s marketing expertise and broad dental customer base, we have an opportunity to jointly capitalize on the valuable growth opportunities within the U.S. dental equipment market.”
