For the third consecutive year, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) has reached a new record membership level.
As of Dec. 12, 2005, AACD has 7,666 members in 60 countries worldwide, the most in the Academy's 21-year history.
"The tremendous growth in AACD underscores the well-documented boom in the cosmetic dental market," said AACD President Nicholas Davis, DDS, of Newport Beach, Calif. "The Academy is proud to serve as the professional home for any cosmetic dental professional seeking to commit themselves to excellence in cosmetic dentistry."
AACD programs include:
*Annual Scientific Session: Cosmetic dentistry's most comprehensive CE event, Pillars of Perfection, takes place May 16-20 in San Diego, Calif.
*The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry: AACD's highly regarded clinical journal
*Accreditation: Cosmetic dentistry's most recognized advanced credentialing program
*Give Back A Smile: Restoring the smiles -- and the lives -- of survivors of domestic violence
More evidence of AACD's growth and impact in the cosmetic dental field includes:
*AACD's University Advisory Council has expanded to more than 40 academic institutions worldwide, increasing the integration of cosmetic dental courses into the curricula of leading dental schools.
*The Exhibit Hall at Pillars of Perfection is already sold out, with more than 160 companies expected to attend.
*AACD established its Charitable Foundation Disaster Relief Fund, which has raised more than $50,000 for dental professionals recovering from the devastating hurricanes of 2005.
