DANB and the DALE Foundation offer resources for dental office managers

March 24, 2016
Both DANB and the DALE Foundation offer helpful resources just for dental office managers that can help them expand their roles in the office and enhance their career options.

Every member of the dental team relies on the office manager to keep the office running smoothly. Because of the unique and demanding skill set required of this important job, dental office managers come to their careers from a variety of different backgrounds. Some start out as chairside dental assistants, while others begin as receptionists, by having business backgrounds, or as managers of other types of professional offices.

Regardless of where a dental office manager’s career begins, there are a number of ways to continue to grow professionally in this critical role. The Dental Assisting National Board, Inc. (DANB) and the DALE Foundation, the official DANB affiliate, offer a number of different resources that can help dental office managers take their careers to the next level.

Dental office manager courses
The DALE Foundation offers three different courses created to help dental office managers streamline business operations and expand their roles in the office. Each course covers a unique aspect of office management areas of the practice: Accounts Receivable for the Dental Office, HR Fundamentals for the Dental Office, and Financial Reporting for the Dental Office. Additionally, the courses are all online so users can learn on their own time, and they also meet requirements for Fellowship in the American Association of Dental Office Managers (FAADOM).

State-specific resources
DANB offers state-specific resources that are crucial for every dental office manager’s library. DANB’s State Career Ladder Templates for Dental Assistants contains easy-to-use charts of state-specific information for job titles, education and exam requirements, as well as job function listings for general dentistry assisting. DANB’s State Fact Booklet contains a state-by-state listing of required DANB exams and the latest laws and administrative rules applicable to dental assistants. DANB’s website also offers a search-by-state map where dental office managers can easily look up their state requirements.

DANB certificant mailing list rentals
For dental office managers who handle personnel and hiring responsibilities, finding quality employees can be a challenge. For offices looking to hire dental assistants, DANB offers mailing list rental of mailing lists of current DANB certificants and those who have passed DANB exams. Lists are available by credential, by region, or for the entire database. Eligibility requirements apply. Visit the DANB website to download the list rental form.
