Kodak unveils RVG 6000 Digital Radiography System

April 19, 2004
New system combines superior image resolution, innovation, and ease-of-use

A new generation intraoral digital system from Kodak delivers the highest resolution of any digital radiography system in the industry, along with an innovative design to boost ease-of-use.

The KODAK RVG 6000 Digital Radiography System features exclusive sensor technology yielding highly diagnostic images with true image resolutions of over 20 line-pair per millimeter. In addition, the new system allows the sensor to be activated and images oriented from chairside through a newly designed sensor remote control, eliminating the need to rely on a computer mouse or keyboard.

The RVG 6000 System uses high-speed USB 2 technology allowing images to be acquired and displayed in seconds. This streamlines the exam process and allows dental professionals to communicate results immediately.

The system comes bundled with the latest generation of imaging software that includes a newly-designed graphical user interface.

The RVG 6000 System will be available to customers within the United States in mid-May.

Kodak's Exclusive Sensor Technology
For the RVG 6000 System, Kodak developed a proprietary sensor technology that includes proprietary optical fiber technology and other innovations. The resulting intraoral radiographs provide image resolution with superior depth of information and a wide exposure latitude to help obtain the right image the first time.

Chairside Control
The RVG 6000 System also features an innovative exam control device that simplifies the system operation and makes it easier to use. The sensor remote control, which allows the sensor to be activated and images to be oriented, is mounted on the sensor cable. Because the device is within easy reach, dental professionals can activate the sensor without leaving the patient's side. This means no walking back and forth between the patient and a computer -- regardless of how the operatory is configured. Exams can be performed more efficiently, with closer attention to patient comfort.

New Software Interface
RVG 6000 System users will also receive the latest Kodak imaging software for managing and enhancing captured radiographs. Improvements to the software include a new graphical interface for efficient, intuitive operation, as well as full compatibility with the KODAK 8000 Digital Panoramic System and the KODAK 8000C Digital Panoramic and Cephalometric System. A new image slideshow is included and a cosmetic imaging add-on module is also available.

Bundled with the RVG 6000 system is the LOGICON Caries Detector, the only software for detecting the presence and depth of penetration of proximal caries that has received premarket approval from the FDA. The RVG 6000 System also comes equipped with specially-designed RINN positioners for fast and accurate sensor placement.

Support and Warranties
The RVG 6000 System is also backed by Kodak's commitment to customer support, including instruction by Kodak's certified instructors to help ensure that dental professionals quickly master the system's operation.

Dental professionals purchasing the RVG 6000 System can choose from three levels of support. A factory warranty provides for replacement of defective sensors at no charge for the first year, followed by cost-effective pricing for sensor replacement for the following two years.

For a higher level of support, RVG 6000 System users can purchase an optional service and warranty plan. Two service levels are available under this plan. An initial three-year term features overnight rapid replacement for defective sensors at no charge, unlimited toll-free phone support and imaging software updates.

Dental professionals can also opt to extend the plan beyond the initial three-year term. The plan's 1-2 year extensions feature continued unlimited toll-free phone support and cost-effective pricing for replacement sensors.
