The Academy of Laser Dentistrys 9th Annual Conference and Exhibition is set for March 13-16, 2002 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in, San Diego, Calif. This international group of leading clinicians, academicians and researchers is meeting to exchange ideas and to advance their knowledge in the field of lasers in dentistry.

As a beginner in the world of dental lasers, a new laser purchaser or an experienced laser practitioner, there are numerous opportunities to learn about and share in the evolving use of dental lasers for patient care. Programs are open to dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, office managers, researchers, students, industry representatives and all those interested in lasers in dentistry. Continuing dental education credit is available for all eligible participants. The Academy of Laser Dentistry is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider and an AGD Accepted National Sponsor. The conference presents many opportunities for both experienced laser practitioners and novices. It also is an educational opportunity for those in the dental industry who are interested in learning more about this technology.

The Academy is proud to announce this years keynote speaker, the esteemed, Dr. Harold C. Slavkin, Dean of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Dr. Slavkin is one of the worlds leading authorities on craniofacial development and genetic birth defects and has served as the sixth director of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), one of the National Institutes of Health.

The conference features General and Scientific Sessions and Hands-On Workshops allowing participants to gain in vitro experience with a variety of lasers and high tech instruments. There is a choice of Participatory Courses, enhancing the learning experience in a smaller, more intimate setting. The Luncheon for Learning Series offers an opportunity to interact with the experts one-on-one.

Conference attendees have the opportunity to view commercial exhibits, featuring products by dental laser manufacturers and other vendors. The Exhibitors Forum and Workshops allow attendees to learn about the latest technological advancements within the rapidly evolving fields of lasers and high-tech dentistry.

This year 2 pre-conference days, March 12-13, 2002, are set aside for the Academys Laser Certification Program, which includes Standard and Advanced Proficiency courses and examinations. The Standard certification day begins with a five-hour standard level course.
