Waterpik Technologies has announced that its revolutionary Waterpik Automatic Flosser has been awarded the 2001 Silver Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) in the category of medical and scientific products, home-care, and self-care. The highly selective IDEA Awards have been presented by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and sponsored by Business Week magazine every year since 1979.

"The Flosser is a product with widespread appeal," said Tara Bain, product manager, Waterpik Technologies. "The Flossers design ergonomic shape, sleek look, colorful style, and portable size has helped create an ongoing demand for the product that has exceeded our original forecast estimate by more than 300 percent."

Volan Design LLC, an international product, design, and development company, produced the Flossers award-winning, easy-to-use design.

The Flosser has received the attention of other organizations as well, winning the Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum in February and the Medical Design Excellence Award in April.
