Sumus, a business advisory firm led by veteran merger-and-acquisition leader Jim Baker, directed the acquisition of a dental device for Practicon, an international dental supply firm based in Greenville, North Carolina.
Practicon acquired E-Prop, an intraoral mouth prop that holds a standard disposable suction tip, from Better Dental Products in Omaha, Nebraska. Designed by a dental hygienist, the device maintains an open mouth for dental procedures while positioning the saliva ejector. The sale closed on May 29.
The transaction demonstrates the flexibility of Sumus, an advisory firm helping biotech, pharmaceutical, and medically oriented companies fine-tune growth strategies or prepare for mergers and acquisitions. “We have the negotiation and [merger-and-acquisition] experience to offer expertise involving devices, products, or companies,” Baker said.
“The Sumus team was with us every step of the way during our first major acquisition,” said Scott Griffin, CEO ofPracticon. “From initial contact through some difficult, detailed negotiations, the Sumus team provided the perfect blend of coaching and taking charge.”
