The Southern Nevada Dental Society hosted a banquet at the Gold Coast Hotel on Sept. 9 — an event to present an award to the dentist of the year who has contributed to his/her profession along with service to the community. This will be a yearly affair — the first of its kind — and the award will be named The Fae Ahlstrom Award.
The first recipient of the award went to Dr. Jim Jones in recognition for his dedication to his profession and unselfish services to the community.
The City of Henderson has proclaimed Sept. 10 as Fae Ahlstrom Day, and the Fae Ahlstrom Award will be presented to the deserving dentist of the year on that day.
This is a milestone in the life of Dr. Ahlstrom. She was a pioneer in her field and a dedicated servant to her profession and her community.
