CHICAGO – Nancy Newhouse, DDS, of Independence, Missouri, was installed as President-Elect of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Board of Trustees during its 97th Annual Meeting held Nov. 12-15, 2011, in Miami Beach, Fla.A member of the AAP since 1983, Dr. Newhouse has served on multiple committees including the Executive Committee, the American Dental Association Liaison Committee, the Task Force on Membership Value, Finance Committee, Planning Committee, and Awards Committee. She served as the AAP’s Secretary/Treasurer in 2010 and as Vice President in 2011.In addition to her private periodontal practice in Independence, Missouri, Dr. Newhouse is also an assistant professor at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry. She has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology since 1989.“I am delighted to continue to work with Dr. Newhouse this year,” said Pamela McClain, DDS, 2012 AAP President. “Dr. Newhouse’s extensive clinical experience paired with her service on the AAP Board of Trustees makes her an invaluable part of the Academy leadership.”Dr. Newhouse received her dental degree from University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1980 and completed her postgraduate work in periodontology at University of Texas Health Science Center- San Antonio in 1986.
